President inaugurates International Gita
Mahotsav in Kurukshetra

Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday inaugurated the International Gita Mahotsav at
Brahmasarovar in Kurukshetra. He was accompanied by Haryana Governor
Kaptan Singh Solanki, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Himachal Pradesh
Governor Acharya Devvrat and others. The President paid obeisance to
Srimad Bhagavad Gita by offering flowers. He also participated in Gita
Yagya and Gita poojan.
Later, Mr Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone of International
Bhagavad Gita Research Centre and Reference Library. The President also
inaugurated the International Seminar on Gita.
President Mr Ram Nath Kovind said that Shrimad Bhagwad Gita gives us
message of justice and morality. He was addressing the gathering of people
and delegates from various countries after inaugurating the International
Gita Seminar at Kurukshetra University.
Mr Kovind said that Gita has solution to all problems of the human beings,
and it helps us to come out of the dilemma. Quoting a story, he said that
a focused mind, clear of all dilemma, can help us achieve our goals.
He also praised the daughters of Haryana, saying that the success achieved
by them in all the fields from space to beauty competitions is outcome of
their determination and this has become possible because they were able to
cross the social dilemmas.
He mentioned the names of Kalpana Chawla, Santosh Yadav, Sakshi Malik ,
Manushi Chiller and others in this context.

so many steps in the direction of women empowerment.He said, in 2011, the
number of girls was 830 per thousand , which had become 937 in 2015
because of success of Beti Bachao Beti Padhai campaign.
He said that Haryana's daughters made Haryana and country proud at
International level.He also praised Haryana Chief Minister for organising
the International level Gita Samaroh.Notably, to deliberate upon the
teachings of Gita, the scholars belonging to different religions from
various countries including America, Japan, Mauritius have reached
Mauritius is a participating country and Uttarpradesh is participating
state in the Gita festival. This time 25-30 lakh people are expected to
reach Kurukshetra from various countries.Last year 20 lakh people from 35
countries have participated in the Gita Jayanti celebrations.
